VMWare Server 2 Sucks Ass

Tuesday, October 14th, 2008

Why do successful companies insist on destroying the products that made them great?  VMWare Server 1 was wonderful software.  It wasn’t perfect, but it was perfectly usable.  VMWare Server 2 traded in the nice and snappy Win32 for a craptastic web-ui, and doesn’t even bother to install the required plug-ins when it installs the server.  The whole product seems like it was designed by a 5th grade slashdot disciple.  It’s all about web2.0 flashiness, and completely misses the point of being something someone would want to use.

I’m kicking myself for not keeping a copy of the last 1.x update.  Hopefully I can find one out there somewhere.

ITunes QA Sucks

Wednesday, September 10th, 2008

It must be a pretty small department, without any accountability.  How else can you explain the crapulent nature of the latest iTunes release?  Attempting to select 60 tracks fails silently.  It seems the most you can select at one time is somewhere around 10-20.  And then when you hit delete to remove them, up pops a dialogue box that sometimes has a checkbox for “don’t ask me again”, and sometimes it doesn’t have that checkbox.  It doesn’t really matter, since it still asks you every time.
