Good Job Seattle City Light billing dept (not)

Tuesday, November 1st, 2011

When I moved into my new place back in July, I transferred service from my old place to the new place, and got 3 copies of the same bill, but none for the new place, so I call them up and ask what’s up, and they assure me that they’ve just not generated a any bills for the first place yet, and I don’t have any balance owing. OK, sounds reasonable.

Then yesterday, I get a call from some collection agent. It seems when I was on the phone with them, they didn’t bother to tell me that they still were showing a balance for the old place. Nevermind that I paid the bill they sent that was marked “final bill” months ago.

Whatever; if I used the electric, I’ll pay for it. I just wish they’d get their shit together. Then again, I noticed that the property management group for my new place’s website only displays the amount due (also incorrectly), but doesn’t actually support online payment. Seriously? What are we, in 1994? =p

Door to Duh Storage

Monday, May 3rd, 2010

Grrr.  You have a perfectly working payment website, complete with user logins and emails already set up.  You decide to replace it, I guess because someone needed an excuse to still be employed, so you wipe out the old system and build a new one from scratch.  And because you are extra stupid, and want to waste a bunch of money on customer service phone calls, you can’t be bothered to use the same email address-to-account linkup that you had in the system, and instead make everyone call in, all on the same day, because you didn’t bother to warn people you were intentionally breaking your system ahead of time.  Incompetent jerks.

Door to Door does an OK job of storing your stuff, but their billing department is staffed by losers.  Remind me to tell you sometime about the 6 months it took to get them to stop double-billing me.  Months of phone calls and messages, never answered nor returned, before I finally just started calling other departments and asking them if anyone actually worked in the billing department.

Pregnancy Testing

Thursday, July 17th, 2008

I try to tell them, “I’m not that kind of girl”, but they just wouldn’t listen.

OK, not really.

I have a lump in my breast which the doctors are quite certain doesn’t “feel like cancer”, but they want to do tests just in case. So they send me off to the lab with a checklist of tests to be performed. As I’m waiting, I notice one of the tests is the pregnancy test. I’m suspecting that since I was being seen at the women’s clinic, they might just have that always checked on their forms. Then again, there could be some odd diagnostic side-effect of a preggers test on men that might apply. Just so long as my insurance doesn’t refuse the charge.
