That was strange

Wednesday, October 26th, 2011

Back in the days of President Clinton, when you wrote him an email, he’d send you back a physical form letter addressing your topic. When GWB took office, they stopped answering, or probably even reading them. When Obama took office, I hoped there’d be a return to the responsive, even if just in surface actions, government.

Just now, I got an email from Obama, thanking me writing. Either his response team is really slow, like months and months after the letter slow, or he’s sent out this email to every person whoever emailed something, out of some sort of OWS reaction? I dunno.

Or somebody hit the bulk-resend button on everyone who sent him emails about Egypt, back in April.

Wasted money

Wednesday, October 19th, 2011

I’m not a big fan of political strategist companies, who’ve commoditized our democracy so that whomever has the biggest warchest wins, but that’s the way of the world these days, so be it.
So it’s an annoyed amusement, when I get one of those massive postcard fliers for some nameless PAC that doesn’t have any positive agenda to put forward, they just want you to know how much they hate the current guy, and they have a link to website for information about their campaign…and the website is a wordpress site that’s still locked down to admin users only. Truly brilliant. Whomever paid WinPower Strategies for their anti port commissioner campaign seems to have wasted their money. oops.

Sad sad world

Monday, October 17th, 2011

It’s a sad sad world, when “Good news, Pogo is being prepared for deportation” really is good news.

Steampunk Tom & Jerry

Monday, October 17th, 2011

If there was any doubt as to the growing popularity of the faux-retro movement, I’m flipping through channels this morning and discover a Tom & Jerry special that seems to be a sort of steampunk-sherlock-holmes mashup.

The Invention of Lying

Friday, October 14th, 2011

This is a really sweet film. The scene where he realizes how much joy he can bring to other people, by telling them lies, is very touching. Ninjas and aliens working together, the first religious dogma, and it’s only half-way through the film.

Scientology Seattle

Friday, October 14th, 2011

The north Seattle Scientology center near my old place closed up a few months ago. As I was driving past last night, I noticed that the new tenant, a psychic, seems to keep the parking lot full of customers, where it was always empty under the the Tom-Tom’s.

Their long-standing facility of 99 on Queen Anne has been closed for a while now too.

They have a new place, behind the crack mc-donald’s downtown, that appears to be in the elevator lobby of a building. When I went by the other day, on my way to visit OccupySeattle, the guy was actually using an e-meter at his little card table in the street.

Time for a new phone?

Friday, October 14th, 2011

I installed the twitter app on the iPad and the Galaxy Tab. When I went to install it on my phone, it doesn’t show up in the list of installable apps for my phone. It was such a cool shiny once, now it’s all dull and old. Time keeps on ticking, etc.

Free Pogo

Monday, October 10th, 2011

Amazing video-music artist Pogo is sitting in an American jail, thanks to an incompetent booking agent for his U.S. tour.

bummer

Pogo Tours USA take 2 cancelled =(

Friday, October 7th, 2011

Due to some shenanigans oh so typical in the music biz, it looks like Pogo is stuck in some sort of immigration mess, and the rest of the tour has been canceled. Sucks, but could be worse. I really wish he’d finish the remix project already though.

First Strip

First Strip by Xymon
First Strip, a photo by Xymon on Flickr.

It says something about humanity that this picture of my first attempt at using one of those pore strips, has overtaken a picture of some random naked guy at Fremont Solstice, as the most popular pic in my photostream.
