What is the deal with supposedly legitimate companies and their inability to provide a working system for unsubscribing from their spam? Is the idea that somehow, if they make it too hard to unsubscribe from updates about a game I haven’t played in years, I’ll change my mind about how boring their game is? Well congratulations jerkfaces, I’ll just tell google to start blocking your emails for everyone. I noticed that when I mark a funcom email as spam, google doesn’t offer a “these folks have a legit unsubscribe system, are you sure you don’t want to try using it first?” link, which suggests I’m not the only person whose gotten annoyed with their craptacular system.
Are you a game developer considering a publishing/distribution house? Run far away from Funcom; I won’t buy any game from them ever again, and I discourage all gamers from buying from them either, at least until they de-scuzz-ify their email subscription system.

I suspect the size of my iPhoto library has something to do with the fact that the ScreenSaverEngine.app process has grown to a 12Gb VSize. I will have to monitor that, see if it continues to grow. I’m taking a lot of pictures with the new camera. I ended up with over 1700 for the Maritime Festival, which totally broke the Flickr Uploadr =(

Went and saw Poona again. I just loves me that fuckdog. And the handsome prince =p
Way more people at this performance. I guess there are moms that would like a nice bit of obscene theater.
The performance was probably better last week from a technical standpoint, with stumbled lines coming from more than one actor, but having a nearly full house gave the show a better energy in the end. A good afternoon spent.

Lunch today was the deep fried pepper burger at Zayda Buddy’s, with tater tots. It was quite tasty. They only deep fry the patty part, the bun is just toasted =p It was massive, and the tater tots (an extra $2 seems a bit excessive, but whatever) were the properly done that gets them nice and crunchy on the outside, while still moist and delicious on the inside. Still so many things to try on that menu, and not a single one of them ‘healthy’.

Instead of coming up with yet another way to force me to view the ads you were supposed to free me from, how about you implement a useful feature. I came home today to find my Tivo recording two different local newscasts at the same time. Never mind that I delete 90% of the local news it records unwatched, because it’s days old by the time I notice Tivo recorded it. The feature I want is some intelligence about unrequested auto-recorded news programs. If it’s more than 6 hours old, delete it. Is there really some Tivo dev that thinks people are going to go back to the local news from 4 days ago, that I didn’t ask you to record in the first place?
I wonder if MythTV supports that kind of sensible space management system…

The ABC player doesn’t work over 3G, but the netflix movie player does.
You can’t update applications over 20mb via 3G.
more to come I’m sure.

Grrr. You have a perfectly working payment website, complete with user logins and emails already set up. You decide to replace it, I guess because someone needed an excuse to still be employed, so you wipe out the old system and build a new one from scratch. And because you are extra stupid, and want to waste a bunch of money on customer service phone calls, you can’t be bothered to use the same email address-to-account linkup that you had in the system, and instead make everyone call in, all on the same day, because you didn’t bother to warn people you were intentionally breaking your system ahead of time. Incompetent jerks.
Door to Door does an OK job of storing your stuff, but their billing department is staffed by losers. Remind me to tell you sometime about the 6 months it took to get them to stop double-billing me. Months of phone calls and messages, never answered nor returned, before I finally just started calling other departments and asking them if anyone actually worked in the billing department.

Took some time sunday to check out Poona the Fuckdog, a very funny, very offensive play, currently showing in Seattle at the Open Circle theater. The character names should give you a clue whether or not it’d be for you… let’s just say there aren’t any words they won’t say during this play. They do a delightfully twisted version of Who’s on First for one character’s name. The whole play is full of short quick stories, all part of an overall theme of adult fairytale. It was good enough, I want to go back and check it out a second time. It’s the kind of play I wish more people would go see. Heck, I may buy people tickets to get them to go see it. Just not my parents.
