I wonder if it would be any happier if this was happening on a Mac.

Friday, January 29th, 2010I’m on a mission to capture all of these that I can find.
Ideally, I’d like to use the scooter to find them all, but the range just isn’t there for serious exploration. So far, I know of 2 others….
Glitter lamp in the dark
Friday, January 29th, 2010My first experiments with light painting gave me more ideas than usable images. I picked up a couple of new light sources while I was working on another project, so hopefully I can make another photo safari this weekend.

Trying To Relax
Wednesday, January 27th, 2010I’m trying really hard to relax
Putting in all my effort
Giving it everything I’ve got
I worry about it all the time
Nothing stresses me out more
Than trying to relax.
Avatar (MR)
Wednesday, January 27th, 2010Made it out to Cinerama to see the Avatar movie, finally. Dunno why I assumed they would be showing it in 3D.
Visually stunning is an understatement. Q~ and I both remarked at how vertigo inducing some of the scenes were, when a character would look over the edge of a great height.
Plot holes big enough to drive one of those warbeasts through, but still highly entertaining.
Waiting by the phone
Tuesday, January 26th, 2010Waiting for a phone call
I almost don’t want to come
Thank goodness for the cellphone
At least I can be miserable
And out in public
Yeah, much better than
The old days
Sitting at home.
Blarg
Saturday, January 23rd, 2010The latest replacement Kindle DX died tonight.
Was reading along just fine, went to turn the page, and no response. Tried all the standard reset options, no response.
Sigh.
UPDATE: I didn’t want to spend my saturday night on the phone with tech support, so I spent the night reading from the original pdf, on my mac. This morning, I start the call-me-back process for kindle support, and grab the kindle to have ready to talk about, and notice that it’s got the screensaver on. That’s different that the blank and unresponsive I saw last night, so I hang up before support answers, and start to see what’s what.
The device lost where I last was reading, of course, and flaked out twice on actions I’ve requested. In one case, the screen saver came back on in the middle of navigating the main menu. In the other case, it ignored a button press to open a book from said same menu. Now, it seems OK. We shall see.
Did You Know…?
Thursday, January 21st, 2010Remote manipulators are called Waldos because they were an idea first proposed by Ralph Waldo Emerson?
I should hope not, since it isn’t true =p
Still, if we all want to live in the woods, and can’t all be authors, they seem essential to a functional society.
