motley crue and you
Friday, May 30th, 2008This just proves what I’ve always felt, that people would rather BE motley crue, than just listen to them. It’s no surprise really, rock and roll has always been about the whole package experience =p.

It’s interesting to see the difference in visibility having a blog that’s part of the established blogosphere. When I wrote about comcast, they had a rep signing up for a comment account within 24 hours. Then there’s the differences in response by different companies. Funny how the ones who talk the biggest game about being hip and customer-focused, are the ones who never show up.
It’s only by phone. They won’t answer quickly, and when they do, they never have a useful answer. All they can do is read from the same useless webpage that is available to the customer already. They ask for a phone number “to call you back if we get disconnected”, but don’t actually ever make that call-back. And when you’ve finally proven to them that you aren’t as stupid as they are, and are indeed capable of plugging in a TV, they give you a worthless case number, wait a MONTH, and then have some idiot call you back that obviously didn’t even READ the case before he came up with some BS questions to ask, most likely because he thinks he can annoy you into letting him close the case, rather than bothering to fix the problem.
DO NOT BUY A TIVO HD this year. The software/hardware combo isn’t anywhere close to being ready. Support will not help you.
At folklife this year, I saw yet another pointless Wii Fit
advertisement. Seriously, they didn’t make anywhere near enough Fit’s to meet the demand without any advertising, how on earth did someone justify spending thousands on a fully staffed booth, but not on enough manufacturing capacity. Why on earth is Nintendo still paying anyone in it’s advertising department? They seem completely superfluous, and deliberately wasteful of Nintendo resources.
This kid does amazing work. It’s worth a watch and a listen. Note that the low-res version has some weird glitch where it started without an i-frame, but the video gets watchable in a few seconds. The high-res version does not have this issue.
It’s an odd problem to have, when the bartender is getting you too drunk. You’re still paying the same price, but the drinks are suddenly much stronger.
His statements that he was going to deliberately assist in the harassment of one of his users, by refusing to enforce the clear language of the TOS, seems like the kind of thing an investor might want to take notice of. He’s basically giving up all chance of using the safe harbor provisions of his position as a communications provider, when he gets sued. I’m curious what sort of incompetent legal counsel told him to say something so detrimental to his company’s future.
Fine adjectives for a night with the sweetie-pie, not so great for a computer lab. Nothing like having the brand new, had to work somewhere else for a week while they installed it, AC fail at the beginning of the first hot day of the year.
So, out of 4 machines installed so far, 1 is dead with a BSOD saying something about an invalid bios signature or something. I didn’t have time over lunch to investigate fully, we’ll see how dead it is when I get home.
I’ve been listening to, and loving, Phranc’s Gertrude Stein, and only just today, thanks to a comment on metafilter, about some nutjob who blames Hemmingway’s death on his wife, for leaving him alone with unlocked guns, did I finally ‘get’ the significance of the gunshot after phranc says his name.
