good stuff

Friday, May 23rd, 2008

This kid does amazing work.  It’s worth a watch and a listen.  Note that the low-res version has some weird glitch where it started without an i-frame, but the video gets watchable in a few seconds.  The high-res version does not have this issue.

gertrude stein

Wednesday, May 7th, 2008

I’ve been listening to, and loving, Phranc’s Gertrude Stein, and only just today, thanks to a comment on metafilter, about some nutjob who blames Hemmingway’s death on his wife, for leaving him alone with unlocked guns, did I finally ‘get’ the significance of the gunshot after phranc says his name.

I’m really amazed their unlimited storage model lasted this long.

I find it interesting, in their suggested alternatives list, they left out what most discussions I’ve seen, put forth as the next best thing, now the best thing, in unlimited storage plans, mozzy.

hello Seattle

Wednesday, April 16th, 2008

I have three different versions of “Sweet Emotion” by Aerosmith, though two of the versions are just different packagings of the same concert audio.  It always makes me smile a little, to hear him call out “helloooo Seattle!”.  I suspect I was living down in portland when this recording actually took place, but why let the details bother me?

Anders Walker who are you?

Wednesday, March 26th, 2008

Google doesn’t know anything about you.  I really like the lyrics to track four of “Don’t Cry For Me NYC”.

Update:  turns out he’s a former bandmate of a friend from the olden days of yore.  Someone should track him down and sign him to a label =p

disco lives

Wednesday, March 26th, 2008

Been listening to a bunch of remixed Bee Gee’s trax lately.  Somehow we got talking about roller skating experiences at work, and I admitted to having taken a roller disco class from the YMCA, as a kid, back at the tail of the 70’s.

Mojo Nixon retired?

Thursday, February 28th, 2008

I’m not sure how I feel about the notion that Mojo Nixon is now ‘just a DJ’ on Sirius radio.  I suppose eventually the torch must be passed on to the next generation of cow-punkers.
